Today is Maundy Thursday and we have a completely green breakfast for you as inspiration. We are huge waffle fans and love to prepare them in all sorts of variations - we also really like savoury waffles.
In keeping with the theme, our guest blogger used wild garlic for the green colour of the waffles - you just have to stay true to the bear family. Since the waffles weren't green enough despite the wild garlic used and there was still a lot of wild garlic left, a spread was quickly conjured up from the rest. This also tastes fabulous as a spread or vegetable dip.
Ingredients | For 5 waffles
- 50g 3Bears Porridge A hearty classic
- 100g soft butter
- 3 eggs
- 75g whole wheat flour
- 75g wholemeal spelled flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 150ml buttermilk
- 1 pinch of salt
- Pepper
- 1 onion
- 20g wild garlic
Preparation | Ready in just 30 minutes
- Cut the onions and wild garlic into small pieces.
- Put all the ingredients together in a bowl and mix with a hand mixer.
- For a particularly smooth and, above all, green dough, puree everything thoroughly again. This means that the green colour of the wild garlic is distributed throughout the dough.
- Prepare the waffles in a waffle iron.
Ingredients | Wild Garlic spread
- 300g cream cheese
- 100g butter
- 50g wild garlic
- Salt
- Pepper
- Arugula seedlings as desired
Preparation | Ready in just 10 minutes
- Cut the wild garlic into small pieces.
- Mix and puree the cream cheese, butter, salt, pepper and 3/4 of the wild garlic.
- Stir the rest of the wild garlic and the rocket seedlings into the spread if desired.
- You can either serve with the waffles or spread the spread on the waffles (as shown in the picture).
We wish you a happy Easter and fabulous holidays.
